Why is this tool important?

A five-point swing in the multiple on a contract for three loads of cream per week during a year could result in a difference of over $260,000. These are important questions for your business.

Nearly all dairy companies, both buyers and sellers, establish contracts to ensure base level needs are met. The universal questions companies have are, "Am I getting a good deal?", "Is it worth the time to find out?", and "Who can I trust to provide objective information?".

Dairy.com provides answers by giving you an easy means of "market testing" your agreements and finding the best deal out there. We also provide you with valuable real-time and historical information on trading averages--an objective benchmark vital to understanding how good or bad your deals are.

How does forward contracting work?

The process is simple.
  • Tell a Dairy.com representative what you are looking for - specs, timing, delivery schedules, pricing, etc.
  • Dairy.com posts your needs to the Forward Contract portion of the Dairy.com site and e-mails out the basic terms of your post to our entire user community (protecting your anonymity, of course).
  • Dairy.com "matches" your interest with complementary posts from others and solicits other potential interest.
  • Dairy.com then helps interested parties complete their responses to your post (certifications, documentation, etc.) and presents the options to you.
  • You select the most attractive response and enter into final negotiations either directly or through Dairy.com.
